Hope Solo Signifies Interest To Run For US Soccer Federation Presidential Post

World Cup-winning American goalkeeper Hope Solo has revealed that she is running for the president of the US Soccer Federation.

Hope Solo, 36, won two Olympic gold medals and the 2015 Women’s World Cup in a national team career spanning 17 years.

The 202-cap goalkeeper has not played for the United States since the Rio Olympics, after getting a six-month ban for calling rivals Sweden “a bunch of cowards”.

She announced her intention to run for president via her Facebook page

In her words, she said: “I know exactly what US Soccer needs to do, I know exactly how to do it, and I possess the fortitude to get it done.”

“I have always been willing to sacrifice for what I believe in and I believe there is no greater sacrifice then fighting for equal opportunity, integrity and honesty, especially in an organisation like the USSF that could give so much more to our communities across the nation.” she added.[tps_header][/tps_header]
