Delta Masters swept away all opposition in the Men’s category to claim gold at the 2019 Port Harcourt Masters Series 1 while the Omega Babes emerged champions in the Women’s category at the two-day tournament which held at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Four teams competed in the Men’s category namely South-West, South-South (Delta), Team Edo and Hocksport (Rivers Masters) while Zion Babes and Omega Babes were the only participants in the Women’s category.
Team Delta edged a tight game against South-West 1-0 to book their place in the final against Team Edo who put five goals past hosts, Hocksport of Port Harcourt in the other semifinal clash.
In the third place match between South-West and Hocksport, Sunday Kaze and Ahmed Mabudi scored the goals to earn South West a 2-0 victory and the bronze medal.
The final match between Delta and Edo State was keenly contested only in the first minutes of the game.
Sunday Ogodogun’s brace and Adamson Lucky trademark strike rendered Sunday Ohikere’s individual goal insignificant as Felix Ghegor’s men ran away with a 3-1 victory.
The Women’s category featured a home and away style format between Zion Babes and Omega Babes. With the first leg having ended goalless, Omega Babes scored twice in the second leg to claim the victory.
Ifiemi Tulagha-Ocholi assisted Celina Ramson for Omega Babes first goal before scoring the second goal to complete the 2-0 win.
Lucky Ogedengbe finished as the tournament’s top scorer with three goals.
