Luis Suarez got a brace, including a late winner, to help Barcelona claim a significant 3-2 victory at Rayo Vallecano in La Liga action on Saturday.
Suarez scored a hat-trick in Barca’s previous league game – a stunning 5-1 destruction of archrivals Real Madrid last Sunday – and continued his hot spell with goals in the 11th and 90th minutes to help his side pull a victory from the jaws of defeat at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.
The Uruguayan’s first goal gave the visitors an early lead. But goals from Jose Pozo in the 35th minute and Alvaro Garcia in the 57th minute had the hosts in line for a win until the 87th minute, when substitute Ousmane Dembele ensured the Blaugrana a point and Suarez broke home fans’ hearts in the 90th minute.
The result gives first-placed Barca 24 points from 11 matches, four ahead of Atletico Madrid and Alaves, making 7 points clear from embattled Real Madrid who occupy the sixth position.
Rayo Vallecano are second from bottom with just six points on the season.
