Safety Shooters and Safety Babes head the male and female categories of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League respectively after they both scored victories in their Match Day 6 fixtures decided at the Velodrome of the Abuja National Stadium on Sunday.
The F.R.S.C sponsored Safety Shooters defeated Army boys, COAS Shooters 35-29 in the men’s category with Lagos Seasiders also defeating Kada Stars 36-29 and Bornu Spiders edging out Owena Kings 28-24 on Sunday.
Other matches decided in the men’s category saw De Defenders overwhelm Plateau Vipers 23-16, Kano Pillars holding on for a slim 23-22 win over defending champions Niger United while Sokoto Rima expended little sweat in comfortably defeating Prison Key Boys 25-17.
Kano Pillars and Safety Shooters are tied on 12 points apiece however Safety Shooters lead the pack courtesy of a superior goals difference.
In the women category, Safety Babes top the table with 12 points, two more than the second placed after they dealt with Defender Babes 33-28 on Sunday.
Imo Grasshoppers are tied on 10 points with Edo Dynamos after losing 25-19 to the Edo based team but stay second by virtue of a superior goals difference.
