AUDIO: Our Target Is To Win The League – Maikaba

Technical Adviser of Akwa United Abdu Maikaba has stated in clear terms that his target is to guide ‘the Promise Keepers’ to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title this season.

“Our target is to finish as champions of Nigeria”

After a dominant display over the weekend, Akwa United defeated highly-rated Enyimba 1-0 in a Match Day 27 tie to move up to 3rd on the NPFL standings, with a game in hand. The Uyo-based outfit have accrued 43points from 27 matches, 5 adrift of leaders; Plateau United.

In a chat with www.busybuddiesng.com, the former Wikki Tourists boss declared his team is now aiming to become champions of the NPFL for the very first time in their history.

“The dream is alive and we don’t put it in our head that we are in the third position and if the league stops, the league will not stop (now),” said the soft-spoken tactician.

“We’ll continue playing the games-eleven games to go. We are focused, we are unrelenting, and we’ll continue to work.

“Our target is not the third position, our target is to finish as champions of Nigeria (NPFL),” Maikaba stated.

Akwa United will next face table-toppers, Plateau United in Jos in a Match Day 28 encounter as they continue with their dream of claiming a first-ever NPFL title.
