“We Are Going To Host CHAN 2018”, Social Media Rumours Untrue – Kenya

Kenya has debunked rumours suggesting the East African country is not prepared to host the 2018 Championship for African Nations (CHAN).

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reportedly expressed their displeasure at Kenya’s slow paced preparation to host Africa come January 2018, earmarking Morocco and South Africa as possible replacements.

Asked if rumours about Kenya’s unpreparedness are true, Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts, Dr. Hassan Wario said: “Treat such as blatant rumours! We are going to host CHAN next year, don’t be misled by what is happening in social media,”

“I have personally visited most of the facilities and therefore, I say this from a point of knowledge,” Wario emphasised.”

However, the Caf inspecting delegation will arrive Kenya for a five-day visit of facilities on 7th September and depart on 12th September 2017, ahead of the continental showpiece.

If Kenya fails to host the January 11th to February 2nd, 2018 CHAN, the country will be disqualified from the tournament.
