London side Fulham have ended their four-year absence from the Premier League after they secured promotion by beating Aston Villa 1-0 in their Championship Playoff final clash on Saturday evening.

Captain Tom Cairney was the hero for Slavisa Jokanovic’s side as he scored the only goal of the game on 23 minutes to give his side a priceless win that secured a return to the top flight for the first time since 2014.

Aston Villa struggled to fashion out clearcut openings despite the fact that their opponents played the last 20 minutes with 10 men following the dismissal of Fulham defender Denis Odoi.

Fulham will now join Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City as the three newly promoted teams in the Premier League next season.
