FIFA Ranking Alert: Eagles Drop Nine Places Despite Argentina Win As Top Five Teams Maintain Status Quo

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped nine places in the latest FIFA ranking released earlier on Thursday.

In the ranking for the month of November, Nigeria drop down from 41st to 50th position with 671 points thereby moving three places from 5th to 8th among African teams.

Their total points were devalued in comparison to the 721 points from last month largely because of the 1-1 draw against Algeria in their last World Cup qualifier on November 10. The North Africans were 26 spots below Nigeria in the previous ranking.

The big win against Argentina was achieved in non-competitive circumstances meaning it could not really affect the points positively.

On the world stage, Germany are still the undisputed no.1 while the chasing pack of Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium remain in their respective positions.
