FIFA ‘Gathering Evidence’ Over Alleged Headbutt By Premier League Player

World football’s governing body, FIFA, have confirmed they are looking into an alleged headbutt by Burnley midfielder Robbie Brady on Everton defender Ashley Williams.

The incident happened in the 61st minute of the Republic of Ireland’s 1-0 win over hosts Wales at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

The result was enough to put Brady’s Republic of Ireland into the World Cup qualifying playoffs ahead of Williams’ Wales.

If he is charged, Robbie Brady could be in danger of missing the playoffs scheduled for November 9-11 and November 12-14.

Robbie Brady returned from a one-game ban for the Wales match before being involved in the alleged off the ball incident missed by centre referee Damir Skomina.

On the incident, a spokesperson for FIFA said:

“We are gathering evidence and cannot comment further.”
