FIFA Awards Is Too Boring – Super Falcons Star Asisat Oshoala Cries Out

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has criticised the Best FIFA Football Awards as being too boring after the latest edition was held in London on Monday, October 23.

Oshoala made this known in the early hours of Tuesday on Twitter as she charged the organisers, world football ruling body FIFA, to spice up the annual award event by introducing Women Best XI just like that of the men known as FIFPRO World XI.

Her tweet read: “Dear @FIFAcom, some of us think it would be more interesting to have Women Best 11 just like that of the men. Please feed us something new.”

During the event hosted by popular Hollywood actor Idris Elba on Monday night, stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Gianlugi Buffoon and many more emerged award recipients. In the women’s category, only two awards were handed out.

Netherlands coach Sarina Wiegman won the Best Women’s Coach while Lieke Martens of the Netherlands (21.72% of the votes) saw off the challenges of American star Carli Lloyd (16.28%) and Deyna Castellanos of Venezuela (11.29%) to win the Best FIFA Women’s Player.
