Effiong Scores As Akwa Utd Beat Pillars To Snap Three Game Winless Run

Ndifreke Effiong struck his fourth goal of the 2020-21 Nigeria Professional Football League as Akwa United edged past Kano Pillars on Matchday 7 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Saturday.

The burly forward scored what proved to be the winner in the 29th minute to give Kennedy Boboye’s side a first win in three matches and only their second win of the season.

The win lifts the Promise Keepers up to 11th on the log with 9 points, while Pillars who have now lost two straight on the road after drawing their first two away games, missed the chance to go top as they remain in sixth place with 11 points.
