Edo State Government Splash Cash Reward on Bendel Insurance

The Edo State Government have continued to show its commitment to the progress of the state-owned football club, Bendel Insurance, by splashing a sum of ₦25 million on the team as a reward for gaining promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after an eleven-year absence.

The Benin Arsenal earlier, had the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium renamed to Bendel Insurance Stadium as part of the appreciation the government is showing the club.

Taking to the streets to celebrate their promotion, the Benin-based outfit also got a brand new bus to support the team.

Meanwhile, in appreciation of their support for the two-time league champions over the past eleven years, the supporters of the club were also gifted ₦5 million as a measure of goodwill.

Insurance will not be in action against Wikki Tourist on Matchday 1 of the 2018/2019 NPFL season, in other to rest and get their affairs in order due to the just concluded Nigeria National League Super Eight tournament which saw Kada City FC emerge champions, but will return to action starting from Matchday 2.
