Dortmund Sign Danish Star Thomas Delaney

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have signed Danish international midfielder Thomas Delaney from fellow German side Werder Bremen.

Delaney, 26, has signed a four-year deal at the club with the transfer fee said to be in the region of €20 million (£17.6m).

He joined Bremen from Danish side FC Copenhagen 18 months ago before snubbing Premier League overtures to sign for Dortmund.

On the latest acquisition via the club’s website, sporting director Michael Zorc said: “Borussia Dortmund have always had a top-class experience with Denmark internationals.”

“Thomas Delaney is a physically and mentally strong player. He will enrich our game with his physical presence.” he further stated.

On his own part, Delaney said: “It was always a big desire of mine to play in the Premier League, and I had offers.”

“But when Borussia Dortmund were mentioned, I didn’t have to think long.

“For me, BVB are one of the top 10 clubs in Europe and one of the top two in Germany – and the stadium is the best in Europe.” he concluded.

Thomas Delaney scored 3 goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances last season in the colours of Werder Bremen.
