
Five-time Grand Slam champion, Maria Sharapova, has pulled out of the Cincinnati Open scheduled for next week, due to a forearm injury.
30-year-old Sharapova, who will need a wildcard to play in the US Open main draw, has declared that missing the Cincinnati Open is “a precaution for the US Open”.

Sharapova, world number 149, joins Victoria Azarenka and Andy Murray in pulling out of the Cincinnati Open, as the trio prepares for the US Open which starts on 28 August at Flushing Meadows.
