CHAN Eagles’ Saviour Dele Ajiboye Not In Rohr’s World Cup Plans

Plateau United FC of Jos goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye is reportedly not in the World Cup plans of Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr despite his impressive display during Nigeria’s CHAN 2018 semi-final win over Sudan on Wednesday night.

Ajiboye produced several saves to help the home-based Super Eagles preserve their lead against Sudan and thereafter drew praise from the Super Eagles Franco-German coach, Gernot Rohr, who described Ajiboye as “wonderful”.

According to a football official who spoke to ScoreNigeria in anonymity, Rohr has pruned down his choice of goalkeepers to Ezenwa and two others.

The official while speaking in Marrakech said that: “Ajiboye is not in Rohr’s plans for the World Cup.”

“Rohr has made up his mind and it does not look like he will change it no matter what happens here in Morocco.” he added.

It was further revealed that Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has been installed as the Eagles’ first choice goalkeeper and that goalkeeping coach Enrico Pionetti will shortly relocate to Spain to specially work with him due to his lack of first team opportunities at his Spanish La Liga outfit.

In addition, another Nigerian-born goalkeeper who plies his trade in Germany has already been spotted by Rohr’s scouts.
