CAFCC: Enyimba Stadium Gets Approval For CARA

The Confederation of African Football has approved the Enyimba International stadium for the CAF Confederation Cup tie between the Aba giants and CARA Brazzaville of Congo on Wednesday.

A 2-man inspection team from CAF visited the refurbished stadium last week to ascertain its readiness for the crunch tie. Pleased with the state of facilities and work at the venue, the continent’s ruling body has now given its nod for the ground to host the tie.

This was confirmed by Enyimba spokesman Farriel Allaputa through a message on his Twitter account:

“Finally, the hard work pays off. The @Enyimba stadium has gotten approval from CAF to host CARA Brazaville on Wednesday and the rest of the club’s #TotalCAFCC matches. Back home for good now,” he tweeted.

Enyimba have been away from their traditional Aba stadium since November 2015 when they won a record 7th NPFL title. And following renovation work at the famed stadium, the People’s Elephant have played home games as tenants in Umuahia, Port Harcourt and lately, Calabar.

The 2-time CAF Champions League winners are billed to face CARA by 5pm local time on Wednesday, with a win guaranteeing them a place in the quarter finals of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
