Bundesliga Watch: Dortmund Capitulate In Ruhr Derby As Bayern Suffer First Defeat Under Heynckes At Gladbach

Borussia Dortmund produced one of the greatest capitulations in recent times after they lost a four-goal lead to their rivals Schalke 04 in the Ruhr Derby clash played at the Signa Iduna Park on Saturday evening.

Dortmund started the game with a bang netting four goals in 13 first half minutes through Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Benjamin Stambouli (OG), Mario Goetze and Raphael Guereiro and were in cruising mood until things started to fall apart 16 minutes into second half.

Austrian star Guido Burgstaller and Amine Harit scored within four minutes to halve the deficit and their chances of getting a point at least greatly improved after the aforementioned Aubameyang was sent off for two yellow cards. Dortmund held on till the last four minutes before their resolve was eventually broken.

Daniel Caligiuri netted a third for Schalke 04 paving the way for Brazilian defender Naldo to make it 4-4 in added time to complete the impressive comeback for the Gelshinkirchen Arena outfit.

League leaders Bayern Munich suffered their first defeat under Jupp Heynckes (3rd spell) following their 2-1 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach.

The hosts took a 2-0 lead through goals from Thorgan Hazard (penalty) and Mathias Ginter before Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal pulled one back with 16 minutes left on the clock. Gladbach thereafter held on for a very good win over their visitors.

UEFA Champions League (UCL) debutants RB Leipzig have closed the gap on Bayern to three points after their 2-0 win over struggling Werder Bremen at home courtesy goals from Naby Keita and Bernardo.
