Brian Idowu Is Still A Russian Despite Eagles Invitation – Club

Russian club Amkar Perm have disclosed that the status of their defender, Brian Idowu, remains unchanged despite his recent call up to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The club maintained that his status as a Russian has not been affected despite the fact that he could feature for Nigeria against Argentina on Tuesday evening at the Krasnodar Stadium in Krasnodar, Russia.

Amkar Perm made this known via a statement on their official website. The statement read:

“Defender of Amkar Brian Idowu was summoned to the national team of Nigeria for a friendly match with the national team of Argentina.”

”Opponents will meet on Tuesday, November 14, in Krasnodar.

”We draw your attention, the participation of the 19th number of the red-black in the friendly game will not affect his status of a Russian in games for the club.” the statement added.

Idowu, 25, was born in St. Petersburg, Russia to a Nigerian father and a half-Russian cum half-Nigerian mother. He is therefore eligible for both countries (Nigeria and Russia).
