Spanish champions Barcelona have completed the signing of midfielder Arthur from Brazilian Serie A side Gremio.
The 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder has signed a six-year deal with the Nou Camp giants after the La Liga side agreed a €40m deal with Gremio.
His transfer was confirmed by the five-time European champions on Monday evening with the club revealing that transfer fee include €31m + €9m in variables.
Barcelona also stated that a buyout clause of €400m has been inserted into his contract.
Arthur has played for both Brazil’s U17 and U20 teams but is yet to feature for the senior team despite receiving invitation to the team on few occasions.
He is expected to be a direct replacement for compatriot Paulinho, who left for Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande on Sunday evening.
Arthur will link up with another Brazilian Philippe Coutinho at the club.
