Barbara Banda Doubtful For Falcons Clash (AUDIO)

Coach of the Zambian women national team Bruce Mwape says star player and captain Barbara Banda is a doubt for the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations Group B game against Nigeria on Wednesday 21, November after she picked up a knock in training.

Banda who plays for Escuelas de Futbol de Logrono in the Spanish Primera Division had missed Zambia’s five-nil opening match victory against Equatorial Guinea as a result of suspension and had been penciled to start against the Super Falcons before injuring herself in training on Tuesday.

“When we are training she actually got injured so I don’t know how serious the injury is but we will find out from the doctor,” Mwape said.

If the injury proves serious enough to rule her out of the fixture, it would be a big blow to Coach Mwape’s plan to secure a first-ever defeat over Nigeria and all but secure qualification to the semi-final of the competition.
