Victor Osimhen has returned another positive Covid-19 test result Napoli announced on Monday.

The Serie A side said the 22-year-old will be tested again during the week but the striker will now not be available for Napoli’s Coppa Italia tie against Genoa.

Osimhen first tested positive for the dreaded virus in December, shortly after he had returned from a trip to Nigeria where he marked his 22nd birthday.

Videos later surfaced online showing the former Lille striker surrounded by friends and family as he celebrated his birthday with scant regard for Covid-19 protocols.

He was reportedly fined and reprimanded for his conduct but the latest positive test marks another setback in what has been start-stop debut campaign for the €81m club record signing.

Osimhen has not played for Gennaro Gattuso’s side since he injured his shoulder in Nigeria’s calamitous 4-4 draw against Sierra Leone last November.

The injury kept Osimhen out of the Neapolitans last eight games in all competitions and he is now set to miss even more games following his latest positive test.

The former Wolfsburg striker has struggled to live up to his record move and has scored a paltry two goals since his summer move from Lille.
