OSHANIWA: Akwa United Will Help Me Return to Europe

Africa Cup of Nations 2013 winner, Juwon Oshaniwa, who recently joined Nigeria Professional Football League side, Akwa United, says he joined the Promise Keepers because they can help him in an eventual return to Europe.

Oshaniwa, who played for Lobi Stars and Kwara United before leaving the shores of Nigeria, signed for the two-time Federation Cup winners after being released by Scottish side, Heart of Midlothian becoming without a club since 2017.

Speaking to reporters, he said: “I joined Akwa United because they are a top side that play good football and they also have good facilities that can help me improve and prepare for the next transfer window in Europe,”

“I have come to join Akwa United to help the team. I will be willing to contribute my quota whenever I am called upon. I hope to keep doing well to beef up the team.”

The defender who featured for the Eagles at the 2014 World Cup, was part of the Akwa United team that lost to Heartland in Owerri in a pre-season match.
