Nigerian Table Tennis sensation Aruna Quadri has booked his place in the quarterfinal of the men’s singles event at the ongoing Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Quadri defeated Xue Jie Pang of Singapore 4-1 in their last 16 clash on Thursday.

Team Nigeria also enjoyed a fruitful outing on Thursday with victories for wrestlers like Ebikewemimo Welson, Blessing Onyebuchi and Ebimientaghe Assizecourt.

Onyebuchi has qualified for the final after she saw off Katouskia Pariadhaven in the women’s freestyle 76kg semifinal.

Assizecourt is also through to the next stage after he booked a last four place with his quarterfinal victory over Mohamed Ali Amzad in the men’s freestyle 74kg while Welson saw off Viorel Etko by technical superiority in the men’s 57kg freestyle.
