Amuneke Tips Osimhen To Succeed In Italy With Napoli (AUDIO)

Former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles coach Emmanuel Amuneke has tipped Victor Osimhen to be a huge success at Napoli, adding that the 21-year-old is not ‘scared of challenges’.

Amuneke was coach of the Golden Eaglets in 2015 when Nigeria won a record 5th FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, in a tournament where Osimhen emerged the top scorer with a record 10 goals.

The former Wolfsburg striker last week completed a club and African record transfer to Italian giants Napoli from French side Lille on a 5-year contract.

In an exclusive interview with www.busybuddiesng.com, the former African Footballer of the Year said the move will aid the striker’s development.

“Well, I think he will be a success (at Napoli). Becoming a success depends on a whole lot of things and factors,” the Barcelona star said. “I think he will be a success, but of course, it all depends on his state of mind, it all depends on his capacity and ability to adapt to the new challenges.

“There won’t be any doubt, moving from Lille to Napoli is a big step ahead, so there will be a whole lot of expectation from people, looking at the money they bought him from Lille.

“But I think Victor (Osimhen) is a player that is not afraid of challenges. Victor is not a player that is scared of challenges or stepping into the shoe. So, I wish him all the best and I believe he will do it. All we need to do is to support him.”

Osimhen scored 18 goals in all competitions for Lille before moving to Napoli.

He was named Lille’s Player of the Season and also scooped the Marc Vivien Foe award for the Best African Footballer in France.
