Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has been included in the AFCON 2023 round of 16 best 11.

The team of the round of 16 was compiled by whoscored.com.

Bassey was impressive for the Eagles in the 2-0 win against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions.

The Fulham star provided the assist for the Eagles’ second goal scored by Ademola Lookman, who bagged a brace in the win.

Commenting on Bassey’s performance, whoscored.com wrote:”Despite Ademola Lookman’s brace, the player of the match in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Cameroon was Fulham centre-back Calvin Bassey, who made a total of four tackles, one interception and four accurate long balls.

“The 24-year-old also won four aerial duels and provided the assist for his side’s second goal, in the 90th minute.”

Bassey will hope to replicate the same performance when the Eagles take on Angola in the quarter-finals on Friday.
