Volleyball: Kada Kings Lead After First Phase Of Division 1 League

Kada Kings ended the first phase of the just concluded 2021 National Division 1 Volleyball League in Kaduna State in top position with 21 points.

The Kings beat Kwara United 3-1 (28-26, 25-19, 22-25, 25-10) in the men’s final match at Ahmadu Bello Stadium to maintain their one hundred per cent record after seven games.

Head coach Jonathan David commended his players for their resilience and belief to stay unbeaten throughout the tournament.

“I am overexcited at being an unbeaten team so far in the tournament and it is due to our hard work and determination. The first set was a bit dicey because Kwara United were leading 24-19 but the players had to give their best and we eventually won the set which was miraculous,” he said.

Meanwhile, JVC of Bauchi finished in second place with 20 points, Kwara United placed third with 15 points, while Spartan Spikers of Yola are fourth with 13 points.

Katsina United occupy fifth-place with 9 points, Equity Spikers are sixth with 5 points, Caliphate Spikers of Sokoto are seventh with 4 points, and Oyo State brings up the rear with a solitary point.

Nigeria Volleyball Federation, caretaker committee chairman Musa Nimrod expressed satisfaction with the organisation, players, coaches and referees at the tournament.

He applauded states and clubs who competed in the first phase of the league and appealed to absent teams to avail themselves of the opportunity to compete in the next Division 1 season.
