NPFL Roundup: Lobi Miss Chance To Go Top, Enyimba Win In Lagos

Lobi Stars missed a chance to displace Plateau United at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Enugu Rangers in a rescheduled fixture on Wednesday.

With their outstanding game now played, Gbenga Ogunbote’s side are now level with Plateau United on 32 points from 18 games but an inferior goals difference of +10 to +15 means they stay second.

Israel Abia gave the visitors the lead at the Aper Aku Stadium two minutes from halftime but Samuel Mathias struck on the stroke of halftime to restore parity with the game eventually ending 1-1.

Rangers who still have five outstanding matches remain mired in relegation trouble with 16 points from 13 matches.

Elsewhere, MFM’s horrid run in the league continued as they lost 1-0 at the Agege Stadium to hand Enyimba a first league victory under caretaker boss Fatai Osho.

A tight game was decided by Abdulrahman Bashir’s 73rd minute winner to lift Enyimba who have five outstanding matches to 16th on the log.

MFM meanwhile are winless in their past four games and fall to 12th on the log with 23 points from 18 games.
