Bundesliga Review: Frankfurt Suffer UCL Dent With Bremen Defeat

Eintracht Frankfurt missed out on the chance to break into the UEFA Champions League (UCL) places following their 2-1 defeat at Werder Bremen in a German Bundesliga Matchday 28 clash on Sunday afternoon.

Austrian midfielder Zlatko Junuzovic gave the hosts a first half lead before Luka Jovic equalised for Frankfurt with eight second half minutes gone only for David Abraham to put through his own net eleven minutes from time thus handing Bremen the maximum points.

The defeat means that Eintracht Frankfurt (45 points) stay in 6th spot while Werder Bremen (36 points) also stay in 12th place despite earning the three points at stake.

In the other game on Sunday, hosts Mainz 05 and Borussia Moenchengladbach played out a goalless draw.

With the point gained, Mainz (16th spot and 26 points) are now six points ahead of the automatic relegation spot while the visitors move one place from 10th to 9th position with 37 points.
