Moses Simon Bags Hat Trick In Nantes 8-0 Annihilation Of Paris FC In French League Cup

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon was on fire for French club Nantes scoring a first-half hat trick in the 8-0 annihilation of second-tier side Paris FC in the Coupe de la Ligue on Wednesday.

Simon, who has been named in Nigeria’s squad to play Benin and Lesotho in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers opened the scoring for Nantes in the 22nd minute before bagging further goals in the 35th and 43rd minutes as Nantes ended the half 5-0 ahead.

The player who joined on a season’s long loan from Spanish side Levante and has now taken his goals tally to five in all competitions was substituted in the 65th minute and watched from the bench as his side eviscerated Ligue 2’s bottom team eventually running out 8-0 winners.

Meanwhile, compatriot and fellow international Henry Onyekuru was on the bench for the entirety of Monaco’s 1-0 win over fellow Ligue 1 side Marseille in the French League Cup.

Elsewhere, Super Eagles full-back Ola Aina was an unused sub for Torino as they lost 4-0 away to Lazio while compatriot William Troost-Ekong was on for ninety minutes as Udinese were thumped 4-0 at home by 10-man Roma in the Serie A.

In the Scottish Premiership, Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo played the entire game and contributed two assists for Glasgow Rangers in the 4-0 victory at Ross County with Sheyi Ojo also lasting the duration and chipping in with an assist for the opening goal.

In Spain, the duo of Chidozie Awaziem and Kenneth Omeruo had a night to forget in defence for Leganes as they were thumped 5-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu by Real Madrid in a La Liga game.
