2020 African Handball Nations C/ship: Nigeria To Battle Angola, Gabon and Libya In Group B

The Nigeria national men’s handball team will compete against Libya, Gabon and Angola in Group B at the 2020 African Handball Nations Championship in Tunisia.

The tournament which will hold from 15 to 25 January 2020 will also serve as qualifying tournament for the 2021 IHF World Men’s Handball Championship in Egypt.

The Nigeria handball team will be making a twelfth appearance at the biennial championship which is in its 24th edition and will hope to surpass their highest ever finish of 4th place recorded at the 1998 edition in South Africa.

Hosts Tunisia are defending champions having won the 2018 edition in Gabon where Nigeria placed tenth.

Only three countries have ever won Africa’s official competition for senior national handball teams.

Defending champions Tunisia, winners of the first edition, have won the title a record ten times. Algeria is next with seven titles while Egypt, with six titles, complete the exclusive champions club.
