Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala Returns From Injury To Inspire Barcelona to Zenith Spot

Asisat Oshoala inspired Barcelona with a brace to a 6-2 victory over Sevilla at Mini Estadio to put the Catalan side back at the summit of the Spanish Liga Iberdrola standings after sitting out for a month due to injury.

Barcelona needed a win over their visitors in their title pursuit but Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 win at Espanyol on Monday dropped them to the second spot.

Oshoala, who returned in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Bayern Munich after a month out with a hamstring injury, scored twice on her league return to keep the Blaugrana’s title hopes alive.

Substituted in the 67th minute, Oshoala continued her impressive form in Barcelona’s colours and has now scored seven times in eight games in all competitions for the Blaugrana.

Despite being tied on 78 points, Barcelona lead by eight goals on goal difference, but Atletico Madrid have a game in hand against Tenerife.

The Super Falcons has been impressive for Barcelona in all her six appearances since joining on loan Dalian Quanjian and will be a choice selection for Nigeria for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
