Champions League Review: Liverpool Stun City As Barcelona Thrash Roma

Premier League leaders Manchester City have it all to do in next week’s second leg after they were stunned 3-0 at Anfield in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarterfinal 1st leg clash with Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah scored his 38th goal of the season in all competitions to edge Liverpool ahead before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane added further strikes before the halftime interval.

Liverpool thereafter held on for a big advantage ahead of the second leg clash slated for the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, April 10.

In the other game on Wednesday night, Barcelona thrashed AS Roma 4-1 at home in their quarterfinal 1st leg clash.

A Danielle De Rossi own goal gave Barcelona a first half lead before another own goal from Kostas Manolas doubled the hosts’ lead.

Spanish international defender Gerard Pique and Luis Suarez thereafter scored Barcelona’s 3rd and 4th goal either side of Edin Dzeko’s consolation for AS Roma.

Roma would be hoping to overturn the big deficit when both sides meet in the 2nd leg at the Stadio Olimpico next week Tuesday.
