CAFCC Review: Olisema Double Overturns 1st Leg Deficit To Take Akwa United Through

Akwa United forward Cyril Olisema was the star mam for his side as he netted a brace to give the Promise Keepers a 2-0 win at the Independence Stadium in Bakau against Banjul Hawks in what was their 2nd leg CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) clash.

Abdu Maikaba’s team lost the home leg by 2-1 and needed to score two in replied goals to have a chance to go through and they were able to achieve that with the help of Olisema who scored either side of halftime to give Akwa United victory.

The Uyo-based side had earlier missed a first half penalty through Dennis Nya who struck the post before Olisema’s goals in the 36th and 46th minute ensured that the team will now face Al-Ittihad of Libya in the next round.

Nigeria’s other representatives, Enyimba, were drawn bye for this round and they are expected to start their campaign against Energie of Benin Republic in the next stage.
