NPFL Matchday 9 Review: Pillars Go Second Despite Enyimba Draw As Nasarawa, Kwara Serve Up Six-Goal Thriller

Former Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Kano Pillars have moved into second place on the league table despite being forced to a 1-1 home draw by Enyimba in a Matchday 9 clash on Sunday evening.

Junior Lokosa scored his 8th league goal of the season to give Pillars a 36th minute lead but it didn’t last long as Emma Anyanwu put through his own net to drag the Aba Elephants back into the contest.

Enyimba thereafter held on for a share of the spoils at the Sani Abacha Stadium in the face of consistent pressure from the home side.

The draw was enough to move Kano Pillars (15 points) above champions Plateau United into 2nd spot while Enyimba (14 points) are up to 4th position with the one point gained.

In the pick of the other games, newly promoted side Kwara United came from two goals down to earn a 3-3 draw at Nasarawa United.

Stephen Alfred got two goals to help his Ilorin-based side record an impressive point against the Solid Miners.
