La Liga Review: Barcelona Misfire Against Getafe As Valencia And Sevilla Secure Important Wins

League leaders Barcelona were surprisingly not at their fluent best as they played out a disappointing goalless draw with stubborn Getafe in their Matchday 23 league clash at the Nou Camp on Sunday evening.

Barcelona struggled to break down the Getafe rearguard despite the presence of their star players thus missing out on the chance to go nine points clear of nearest challengers Atletico Madrid.

This is the first time Barcelona will go scoreless in the league this season.

Valencia have climbed above Real Madrid into third place following a 3-1 win over Levante at home courtesy goals from the in-form Santi Mina, Luciano Vietto and a Dani Parejo penalty while the visitors got their consolation goal through Spanish midfielder Sergio Postigo.

Sevilla also secured a home win by beating Girona 1-0 to move within six points of Real Madrid in the last qualification place for next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL).

Pablo Sarabia scored the only goal of the game after the interval as he punished Girona’s Aday for a first half penalty miss.
