Rohr Confirms Poland Friendly, New Physical Trainer For Eagles

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has disclosed that his team will face Poland in an international friendly on March 23, 2018.

The friendly, which is part of Eagles’ preparations ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, will take place in Wroclaw or the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów according to reports.

Rohr made this known via quotes from French website Football365.fr. and also confirmed that there would be a second physical trainer (Bernard Gines) for the team.

In his words, Rohr said: “We will play Poland at home on March 23rd.”

“We are looking for a second opponent in Europe for another FIFA date in the spring.” he added.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn in Group D of Russia 2018 alongside Argentina, Iceland and Croatia while Poland will face Nigeria’s West African colleagues Senegal, Japan and Colombia in Group H.

Speaking further, the Franco-German tactician revealed the identity of the new trainer. He said: “Physically, we will be ready. We will take a second physical trainer, in this case Bernard Ginès, I had in my staff in Nice, between 2002 and 2005. We will receive FieldWiz, which are GPS to work better in detail.

“We will have to progress in the scouting of our own players so as not to make mistakes in the list of 30, then that of 23. We will strengthen the scouting team.” he added.

The former Gabon and Niger Republic coach also stated that a camping site has been chosen to aid the team’s preparations ahead of next summer’s tournament.

“We chose a base camp that we visited in southern Russia, between Sochi and Volgograd, in the countryside, in a region of mineral and spa baths. We will be far from everything, with opportunities for care and excellent conditions of recovery between games. At 500 meters altitude, it will not be too hot,” he said.
