Former Sports Minister Inuwa Abdulkadir Is Dead

Former minister of youth and sports Inuwa Abdulkadir is dead.

Abdulkadir reportedly died at Usman Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, in the early hours of Monday after a brief illness.

He was 54 and was the immediate vice-chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) north-west prior to the dissolution of the National Working Committee last month.

Abdulkadir was minister of youth and sports under Goodluck Jonathan but was relieved of his role under controversial circumstances in 2013.

Before becoming youth and sports minister, Abdulkadir served as justice commissioner in Sokoto state.

A funeral will be held at his residence in Sokoto and his remains will be buried according to Islamic rites.

The former minister is survived by two wives and nine children.
