Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has received the Golden Shoe Award for last season (2016/17).

The award is given to the highest goalscorer in Europe each season and the Argentine is the latest recipient after he netted 37 goals in 34 matches last season ahead of Sporting Lisbon’s Bas Dost (34 goals), Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang (31 goals) and club teammate Luis Suarez (29).

Messi has now won the award on four occasions having scooped it in 2009/10 (34goals), 2011/12 (50 goals) and 2012/13 (46 goals).
