WAFU Nations Cup: Imama Amapakabo On The Edge As Super Eagles B Fall To Hawks Of Togo

Imama Amapakabo’s Super Eagles B side have fallen out of contention at the 2019 WAFU Nations Cup currently holding in Senegal after they lost 2-1 to the Hawks of Togo in their opening game on Sunday.

Sunday’s game marked the second straight defeat for Imama Amapakabo and his team to the Hawks of Togo inside a week following a 4-1 mauling in the first leg of the last qualifying stage for the 2020 African Nations Championship and raises serious questions about the future of the coach and the suitability of his team.

The Hawks of Togo opened the scoring in the first half but Nigeria drew level through Lobi Stars forward Sikiru Alimi before the Togolese put the game to bed with a second goal.

Togo advance to the quarterfinal while Nigeria will make do with a classification game against the loser of Cote d’Ivoire and Cape Verde in the newly revamped competition.
