Former Real Madrid striker Pedja Mijatovic has warned Manchester City not to underestimate the Los Blancos in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

In an interview with AS, Mijatovic stated that Real Madrid is the only team every club doesn’t want to confront in the competition.

“We have the League on track and in the Champions League, be careful, it is not intelligent to underestimate Madrid.

“Three years ago I had lunch with (City sporting director Txiki) Begiristain in Manchester.

“When talking about the Champions League he told me: ‘Before a draw there is only one team that no one wants to get: Real Madrid.'”

Mijatovic played for Real Madrid between 1996 and 1999 and, among the titles he won, was a Champions League title against Juventus that was settled by a goal
