Theophilus Afelokhai gets maiden Super Eagles call-up to replace injured Uzoho

Eyimba goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai has been called up to replace the injured Francis Uzoho in the Nigeria Super Eagles squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa.

The 30-year-old shot-stopper was in outstanding form for Eyim a during their continental campaign and has been handed his first National team call-up after first-choice goalkeeper Uzohowas ruled out for the upcoming matches.

Afelohkai would be competing with Ikechuckwu Ezenwa a for the starting spot in the coming games.

Uzoho suffered a fracture to his rib in his side’s (Elche) 5-1 defeat to Cadiz in the Spanish Segunda division on Sunday.

The Super Eagles are slated to play a crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa away at the FNB Stadium on November 17 before hosting Uganda three days later in a friendly at home.
