Spanish La Liga Wrap (Sunday): Girona Stun Champions Real Madrid

Lowly Girona produced the biggest win of their small history after they came from behind to beat Spanish champions Real Madrid 2-1 in their Matchday 10 clash.

Spanish playmaker Isco had given Zinedine Zidane’s team a 12th minute lead but their lowly opponents battled back within four second half minutes through Christian Stuani (his 5th league goal) and Portu (3rd league goal of the season) to turn the game on its head.

The away side huffed and puffed for the remainder of the game but could not find a route back into the game as Girona claimed the biggest scalp of their history.

The loss means Real Madrid lose further grounds in the race for the league title with the team now eight points behind leaders and arch rivals Barcelona.

Malaga are off the bottom in La Liga after they secured their first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo courtesy goals from Adrian Gonzalez and Recio.
