Rohr: My Problem Is In Defence

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has stated that his problem at the moment is with the team’s defence as he confirmed that he will release his 35-man squad for Russia 2018 on May 4.

Rohr is presently in Nigeria as he meets with NFF chiefs in a bid to step up preparations ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

The Franco-German was speaking in a chat with newsmen. In his words, he said: “My problem at the moment is in the defence because Leon Balogun is injured, William Troost-Ekong is not playing since they changed the coach at his club.”

“Tyronne Ebuehi is injured and Elderson Echiejile is not playing many games, so we have to check our defence also.” he added.

The former Niger Republic boss thereafter expressed his delight at the form of some Super Eagles strikers. Rohr said: “When you see what happened last weekend, Odion Ighalo scored four goals, Musa scored two, Victor Moses scored one and had an assist, Kelechi Iheanacho played very well at Leicester, but didn’t score. Alex Iwobi played also. So, I’m not pessimistic about this department. We have Mikel Obi, who can give good balls and also score. I think we will be able to score some goals at the World Cup.”
