Remo Stars Lock Horns with NNL over Super 8

Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) are in a tussle with the Nigeria National League (NNL) after it announced that it will not be honouring the Bet9ja sponsored Nigeria National League Super 8 competition scheduled to hold on the 15th of December, 2018, in Aba, Abia State.

In a statement released by the club’s Media Manager, Oladimeji Oshode, the Sky Blue Stars decided to pull out of the tournament because the club noticed that the NNL had revert its earlier decision to promote eight teams to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for the 2018/2019 season.

On November 24, 2018, decisions were reached by the NNL league board during the Annual General Assembly (AGA) held at NERA Hotel Jabi, Abuja indicating all eight teams will be promoted to the NPFL.

The NNL, after several consultations, decided to hold it’s usual Super 8 tournament which is used to select the four teams that will be promoted to the NPFL.

The statement read in part: “Following the earlier decision made, we (Remo Stars) have now noticed that the Nigeria National League (NNL) is no longer going by the earlier decision made to promote all eight (8) and we have therefore decided on our part not to honour the scheduled NNL Super 8 in Aba.”

The Ogun State based club who finished top of Group B2 with two points ahead of Delta Force FC risk being promoted if they fail to show up for the tournament.
