Real Sociedad Take La Liga Summit Despite Leganes Draw

Real Sociedad have gone to the top of the Spanish La Liga table despite losing a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw at Leganes on Friday night.

The Basque outfit raced into a two-goal lead as early as the 17th minute courtesy goals from David Zurutuza and Asier Illarramendi six minutes apart.

The home side, however, bounced back in the second half and Moroccan winger Nabil El Zhar proved to be the main catalyst for the comeback.

El Zhar pulled one back nine minutes into the second half before netting the equaliser two minutes from time to earn his side a 2-2 draw.

The draw was, however, not enough for Leganes to make any positive impact on the league table with the lowly club dropping from joint 14th to 15th spot after one point from two games.

On the other hand, Real Sociedad move from joint 6th to top spot with four points from two games despite being pegged back by their opponents.

In the other game on Friday, Angel Rodriguez and Jorge Molina scored either side of halftime to give Getafe their first win courtesy a 2-0 victory over Eibar at home.

Eibar have now suffered a second league defeat in two games.

Getafe climb nine spots up the table from 17th to 8th position with three points from two games, while Eibar replace their opponents in 17th place and three places down from the previous joint 14th spot.
