Flying Eagles Star Alhassan Ibrahim Emerges As A Doubt For Mauritania Clash

Flying Eagles forward Alhassan Ibrahim is a doubt for the team’s African U-20 Nations Cup qualifier against hosts Mauritania on July 13.

Both sides meet in the first leg of the final round of qualifiers on Friday and Alhassan Ibrahim could be missing in action because of an ankle problem according to footballlive though head coach Paul Aigbogun is optimistic that the Kano Pillars star would be fit for the game.

The injury forced him to miss the team’s last warm up game, a 1-0 win over Citizens FC of Abuja on Tuesday.

The Flying Eagles saw off Guinea Bissau 3-2 on aggregate in the last round and would start as favourites against Mauritania who stunned Guinea on away goals rule (3-3) in the previous round.

Paul Aigbogun and his wards would be hoping to qualify for the 2019 AFCON U-20 tournament in Niger Republic.

The team failed to qualify for the last edition (2017) in Zambia following the aggregate defeat to Sudan in the qualifiers.
