Premier League Review: Manchester United Go Second With Comeback Victory

Manchester United have gone back to second place on the Premier League table after they secured a 3-2 comeback win over their hosts Crystal Palace in a league clash on Monday night.

Rivals Liverpool had earlier leapfrogged the Red Devils into second spot with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Anfield and United knew they had to respond.

They did that the hard way as Jose Mourinho’s team came from two goals down to win 3-2 courtesy Nemanja Matic’s strike in added time.

Andros Townsend and Patrick Van Aanholt scored either side of halftime to put Palace 2-0 up only for Chris Small in to halve the deficit.

Romelu Lukaku then scored his 99th Premier League goal to level proceedings for Manchester United with 14 minutes left on the clock before the aforementioned Matic snatched the maximum points for his team in added time.

The comeback win was enough to move Manchester United (62 points) above Liverpool (60 points) and into second spot behind leaders Manchester City (78 points) ahead of their huge clash at the weekend.

On the other hand, Crystal Palace stay third from bottom (18th spot) with 27 points in the race for survival.
