Paul Onuachu Plunders Hat-trick In First Match Of 2021

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu began 2021 in devastating fashion as he plundered a hat-trick at the Kehrwegstadion, where Genk dismissed home side AS Eupen 4-1 to go one point behind Jupiler League leaders Club Brugge.

The gangly forward continued his devastating form last year where he found the back of the net 15 times before the mid season break and his treble brings his league tally to 18 goals in as many appearances.

Onuachu, 26, scored once in the first half and completed his hat-trick with two spot kicks after the break.

Junya Ito had given Genk an early lead which was pegged back by Stef Peeters before Onuachu took over scoring in the 42nd minute.

As has become the norm in matches this season, Genk boss John van den Brom replaced Onuachu with compatriot Cyriel Dessers in the 69th minute.

The win moves Genk to 38 points, one behind leaders Club Brugge in the race for the title.
