NPFL: Maikaba Blames ‘Weather’ For Plateau Utd Loss In Lafia (AUDIO)

Plateau United coach Abdu Maikaba has attributed his side’s 2-0 defeat at hosts Nasarawa United to the balmy ‘weather’ at the Lafia Township stadium.

Forwards Chinedu Ohanachom and Silas Nwankwo scored early second half goals to hand the Solid Miners a comfortable win against the Peace Boys in a Match Day 27 Nigeria Professional Football league (NPFL) fixture, with the temperature at around 34°C in Lafia.

However, the former Akwa United gaffer congratulated Nasarawa United for the win, adding that his side will continue to push for a top four finish this season.

“The two teams played very well, but I congratulate Nasarawa United for getting the 3 points at stake,” Maikaba said after the match.

“We tried our best, more especially in the first half, but I believe the weather ran my boys down, we couldn’t help it. They scored the first goal against the run of play, the second one through a penalty.

“Well, all the same, we congratulate them and wish them the best.

“On our part, we’ll keep pushing and see whether we can be in the top 4, top 5 at the end of the league.”

With the defeat, 2017 champions Plateau United dropped one place to 9th on the NPFL log, with 39 points from 27 matches, and will next face struggling Warri Wolves at home on Sunday.
