INSIDE AFCON 2019: Mikel Ruled Out of Super Eagles Third Place Final with Tunisia

CAIRO – John Mikel Obi sat out Nigeria’s last training session at the Aero Sports Club, Cairo confirming Gernot Rohr’s earlier submission that Nigeria’s captain would miss the third-place clash against Tunisia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations today.

Obi’s inability to train stems from the injury he picked up on Monday which has now ruled the 32-year-old out of contention in what would have been his swansong in his last tournament outing for Nigeria.

There are however no other injury worries for Rohr who has indicated that the duo of Victor Osimhen and goalkeeper Francis Uzoho could be introduced for their Africa Cup of Nations debut against Tunisia.

Nigeria take on Tunisia at the Al Salam Stadium, Cairo in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations third-place match by 8pm.
